The China Electric Power Construction Association recently announced the results of the 2025 selection of typical smart construction site cases in power engineering, with 13 projects of CHN Energy recognized.

Smart construction sites represent a typical scenario for the in-depth application of digital and intelligent technologies in power engineering. These include artificial intelligence, 5G-enabled Internet of Things, domestically developed BIM, edge computing chips and meteorological large models, covering the entire project management process with applications such as drone inspections and automatic risk warning systems.

The Phase III project of 2×1000 MW units at Anqing Power Plant has developed a three-tier management and inspection model based on the Cloud Construction Site app, issuing more than 2,000 intelligent alerts in total and reducing the incidence of medium and major hazards by 90 percent. Its core functional modules have obtained 11 software copyrights, saving over 4 million yuan (around 0.59 million USD) in costs.


The Ningxia Electric Power Guyuan Yuanzhou District wind power project

The 500 MW wind power base project in Yuanzhou District, supporting the Ningxia–Hunan UHVDC transmission line, is the first supporting wind power project of the Tengger desert-Gobi-wasteland large-scale energy base. The project adopts BIM+GIS 3D modeling technology to conduct 4D schedule simulations for key procedures such as turbine foundation pouring and tower hoisting, keeping schedule deviation within 3 percent and cost deviation of key processes within 2.5 percent. The 3,000 MW photovoltaic project in Zhongwei, part of the same supporting new energy base, aims at green energy plus ecological restoration and has developed an integrated protection system for sand blocking, prevention, stabilization and utilization. As of March 2026, nearly 90,000 mu (about 6,000 hectares) of desertified land had been treated.

The Xinjiang Electric Power Bozhou 2×660 MW coal-fired power project plans to build two 660 MW ultra-supercritical air-cooled units. Supported by a 5G private network and an integrated digital-intelligent platform, the project has realized intelligent management and control. By the end of February 2026, the main plant building had been fully topped out and entered the equipment installation stage.


The smart management and control platform of the Hebei Lixian cogeneration project

Phase I of the Hebei Lixian cogeneration project includes the construction of 2×350 MW ultra-supercritical cogeneration units, incorporating multiple technologies such as no major hazard sources and zero wastewater discharge. The 300 MW agro-photovoltaic project in Longwanggou, Fushan Town, Zhaoyuan City, developed by Longyuan New Energy, has established an intelligent management system covering five key elements: personnel, machinery, materials, methods and environment. As of March 2026, the project had generated a total of 449.4 million kWh of electricity.

The Anji Meixi 2×9H-class gas turbine project has built two 843 MW gas turbine units with a combined cycle efficiency of 64.15 percent. Unit 1 was put into operation on November 1, 2025, and Unit 2 on January 1, 2026, setting a world record for the fastest construction of H-class gas turbine units of the same type with a 530-day construction period. By the end of February 2026, the project had generated a cumulative 697 million kWh of electricity.


The Xulong Hydropower Station on the Jinsha River

With a total installed capacity of 2.4 million kW, the Xulong Hydropower Station has developed a smart management platform for large underground engineering projects integrating data-driven operations, full-domain monitoring, intelligent warning and closed-loop control. Upon completion, the station is expected to generate approximately 10.5 billion kWh of electricity annually.

The recognition of these 13 projects highlights CHN Energy’s achievements in advancing digital and intelligent transformation in power engineering construction. The Group will continue to promote the deep integration of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things with engineering construction, striving to build modern power projects that are safe, efficient, green and intelligent.
